Pre-Clinical NeuroImmunology

Immunohistochemical assessment of neuronal activation through visualization of cFos is used to detect the ability of a compound to modulate CNS activity. An important aspect of this methodology is the ability to assess compound-induced alterations of neuronal activity across multiple brain regions in vivo. These studies can demonstrate both the anatomical regions activated/inhibited by a compound and when combined with additional markers, provides the ability to identify a compound's action on clinically relevant neurotransmitter systems.
